Jarren Duran looks to lead Red Sox to sweep of Rays
Stats
-
Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Breaks home run drought
Rotowire
McGuire went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rays.
McGuire went yard in the ninth inning off of Erasmo Ramirez, marking the catchers' third homer of the season and his first since April 7. McGuire has been operating as the backup to Connor Wong in May, and he hasn't shown enough at the plate to warrant more playing time since, batting .214 with Tuesday's long ball being his only extra-base hit during the month.

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Steals home, goes yard
Rotowire
Duran went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a steal of home base during Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rays.
The Red Sox executed a first-and-third double-steal perfectly in the eighth inning, as the throw to second to catch Rafael Devers stealing was cut off early and returned to home wasn't in time to tag the speedy Duran. Duran has hit safely in seven straight games, batting 10-for-27 (.370) with a pair of triples, solo home runs and stolen bases during that stretch.

Red Sox's Kenley Jansen: Picks up eighth save
Rotowire
Jansen collected the save Tuesday, allowing one hit and no walks over a scoreless inning against the Rays. He didn't generate a strikeout.
Jansen hadn't pitched since allowing a pair of runs and taking a loss May 16 and was able to shake off the rust after allowing a leadoff double to Isaac Paredes in the ninth, retiring three straight batters to pick up his eighth save of the season. The veteran closer owns a 5.14 ERA this month and has struck out seven batters in 7.0 innings.

Red Sox's Cooper Criswell: Falls short of quality start
Rotowire
Criswell didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk across 5.1 innings. He struck out six.
Both of the runs against Criswell came in the first inning, where he allowed Josh Lowe and Randy Arozarena to reach via hit to start the frame before Isaac Paredes plated them both with a single to left field. Despite not letting a runner reach scoring position after the first, Criswell's day came to an end early in the fifth when manager Alex Cora went to the bullpen in response to Yandy Diaz entering as a pinch hitter. With Garrett Whitlock (oblique) expected to undergo surgery, Criswell can be penciled into Boston's starting rotation for the foreseeable future. He's tentatively scheduled for a Monday start against the Orioles at Camden Yards.

Red Sox star Rafael Devers looks to stay hot in rematch vs. Rays
Stats

Red Sox's David Hamilton: Steals, scores in win
Rotowire
Hamilton started at second base and went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 5-0 win over Tampa.
Hamilton made his fourth start in the last six games and has hit safely in five straight. Once a forgotten man on the roster -- he started just 12 times and had 50 plate appearances over 35 games after being called up April 6 -- Hamilton is 6-for-15 with four extra-base hits, three runs and three RBI during the hit streak. Vaughn Grissom (.135) has yet to establish himself as the everyday second baseman, so there is an opportunity for Hamilton to become a fantasy-relevant option.

Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela: Homers in win
Rotowire
Rafaela went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Monday's 5-0 win over the Rays.
Rafaela's two-run shot in the fifth inning was his fifth of the season and snapped an 0-for-16 skid. There have been several skids for Rafaela during his first full season in the majors; the 23-year-old is batting just .195 through 47 games.

Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Extends home run streak
Rotowire
Devers went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's win over the Rays.
Devers' two-run blast in the fourth inning was his 10th of the year, and he's gone deep in six straight games, though he has only seven total hits during that span. The star third baseman is slashing .284/.380/.567 with 23 RBI and 20 extra-base hits through 37 games. In 18 games this month, Devers has knocked 13 extra-base hits while going 20-for-70 (.286).

Red Sox's Tanner Houck: Dominates Rays
Rotowire
Houck (4-5) yielded two hits and a walk over seven shutout frames Monday, striking out five and earning a win over Tampa Bay.
Houck was terrific Monday and didn't let any baserunners reach scoring position. It was his fourth scoreless start of the year, dropping his season ERA to 1.94 through 65 frames. Houck entered Monday's start on a four-game losing streak over his previous five starts. However, he registered an impressive 2.87 ERA during that span. Houck's next start is projected to be at home against the Brewers this weekend.

Red Sox's Garrett Whitlock: Expected to require surgery
Rotowire
Whitlock has damage in his right UCL and will likely need surgery, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Whitlock was shut down from throwing after he reported soreness in his right elbow Wednesday, and after further evaluation, it's been discovered that he has ligament damage. The right-hander will see a doctor in Birmingham later in the week, as he could be in the process of seeking a second opinion before electing surgery.

Red Sox's Garrett Cooper: Not in Monday's lineup
Rotowire
Cooper is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Cooper has an .860 OPS over his past nine contests but will head to the bench Monday for the second time in Boston's last three games. Connor Wong will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Reese McGuire receives a start behind the plate.

Red Sox's Vaughn Grissom: Hitting bench Monday
Rotowire
Grissom is out of the lineup for Monday's game at Tampa Bay, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Grissom started the previous four games but will take a seat after going 2-for-15 during that stretch. David Hamilton will step in at the keystone and bat seventh in the series opener versus the Rays.

Red Sox's David Hamilton: Homers off bench
Rotowire
Hamilton hit a solo home run in his lone plate appearance in Sunday's 11-3 win over St. Louis.
Hamilton entered as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and belted his second home run of the season. He's hit in four straight games and has gone 5-for-11 over that stretch, but his playing time has largely dried up since Ceddanne Rafaela was moved from center field to shortstop. Hamilton's started just five times over the last 21 games.

-
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Homers in fifth straight game
Rotowire
Devers went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and two runs scored Sunday against the Cardinals.
Devers' sixth-inning blast gives him nine on the season and marked his fifth consecutive game with a home run, tying a Red Sox record in the process. After a slow start to the season, Devers has caught fire lately, hitting safely in 21 of his last 23 games while batting .337 with seven homers, 16 RBI and 17 runs scored.

-
Red Sox's Tyler O'Neill: Smacks 11th homer
Rotowire
O'Neill went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and three runs scored Sunday against the Cardinals.
O'Neill got the green light on a 3-0 pitch from Matthew Liberatore in the first inning and smashed it over the wall in left center for his 11th homer of the season, but just his second since April 27. He would go on to reach base a total of four times in five plate appearances, crossing the plate three times against his former club. In 37 games, O'Neill is slashing .263/.376/.556 with 11 homers, 17 RBI, 29 runs and a steal across 133 at-bats.
