Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
My full name is Bailey Rose Spinnenweber, and I’m 19! I grew up in northern Virginia, with my lovely family in a suburb. I was a swimmer for 13 years and I have always loved music ever since I was a kid. I’m currently a musician and social media influencer! I post content every single day on almost all platforms to expand my audience and skill set.
I decided to be a social media influencer full-time because it was always my childhood dream. It was so surreal to be able to actually fulfill it and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love creating a platform where everyone is welcomed and can enjoy my content while winding down from the day.
I love to show my personality and talents, so this career path was definitely the right choice for me.
I want everyone reading this to know that living out your dream is only a matter of effort, anything is possible if you believe! I firmly believe everything happens for a reason, and my social media presence was a happy accident. I also want people to know that I really do put hard work into my content, and want to make sure that my followers are always happy.
I take pride in being a comfort to my young audience, and I get so excited when I meet any of them in person! My job is not always the easiest, but meeting them makes everything worth it. My end goal is to be a full-time Youtuber and Musician, so I hope they’ll support me in that!
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I try to make myself as personable as possible. A lot of influencers lose touch with reality when they get a little fame, but I never let that get to my head. I remember that I was a totally normal person once too, so I’m not better than anyone and can’t hold myself that high. I want all my followers to feel like they’re my friend, and to create a safe space where everyone is welcomed.
I’m also very persistent, there have been times when dreams felt out of reach, but I didn’t let them go. Some people see failure as just that, failing, but I see it as an opportunity to do better tomorrow. I got a lot of hate when I first started singing on TikTok because they didn’t think I was good. Yet that didn’t stop me from continuing to sing and improving myself, to show them that they were wrong.
I take pride in my relatability, and I want everyone to know that I’m always going to be their friend, not a celebrity.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I never had thought of my TikTok as a full-time job, only something fun to do on the side. That was until I blew up last summer an insane amount. Suddenly the dream was real, and I needed to act on it quickly or it might not be there forever. I called my best friend from home, Maggie, and I told her “I think I’m going to drop out of college”.
She was taken aback by this but has always been so supportive of me so she was on board. Since that moment everything has just gone up for me, I had more time to focus on my content, music, and bettering my platform. I started really pushing my content on every single platform because I knew this is what I always wanted to achieve.
It started working in my favor, growing 2 million on youtube in one year, and still rapidly gaining on TikTok. I’ve found so many other influencer friends that I love since that day, and figured out exactly what I needed to do to live out my dream!
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge was definitely facing the decision of continuing on in college or dropping out to pursue social media full time. I never believed my career would get to that point, but when it did I didn’t know what to do. I felt like school was holding me back from my full potential as I was mostly focusing on college life and classes.
I overcome it by biting the bullet and realizing that my dreams were happening to me right now if I didn’t take it who knows if it would stay forever. I ended up realizing that I could always go back to school, but I have to take advantage of my social media presence while it’s still there. I definitely think I’ve made the right choice and I have never been more sure!
You’ve said in other interviews that you’ve known you wanted to be a social media influencer since you were 14. How did this dream come about?
I grew up being super obsessed with YouTubers, my attention span was always too short for TV shows or movies. I remember watching Emma Chamberlain and thinking that I could do it too. All my favorite influencers were just showcasing their lives and personalities. I made some youtube videos of my own, but they hadn’t gotten any traction when I was young.
I held on to the dream but gave up on youtube for a while, and when TikTok came out I saw that I had a chance. People were blowing up on the app, and really quickly. I wanted to build a fan base of people who just loved me for me and wanted to tune in to what I was doing that day. I started posting all the trends, dance videos, acting challenges, and everything else.
Nothing really worked until I found someone making a POV on my for you page. I made one too just because I thought it was funny, and I didn’t know it would change my life forever.
If you had to describe your content in 3 words, what would they be?
I would describe my content as authentic, creative, and goofy!
In your opinion, what makes your TikTok content so appealing to your fans?
My content on TikTok is very silly at times, but I always make sure that it’s relatable to some extent. I base my videos on relationships, friendships, family, and more. This gives my followers to continue watching, without feeling like they don’t know what is going on. My content gets a little crazy at times, but I’m very consistent with what I create.
They can always expect a new POV from me with a fun storyline for them to watch. I also strive for originality, which has gotten me to where I am. I try my hardest to make the POVs something they haven’t seen before because no one wants repeated content. I like to tell stories that are a little more dramatic than real life, but still, reveal a good message overall!
Whether that be Anti-Bullying, improving self-confidence, or finding out who your real friends are!
You’re also working on getting into music. What inspired this passion?
I’ve always loved music a little too much I would say. I was the kid who never took the headphones off, and I found so much comfort in my favorite artists. I started to become obsessed with musical theatre and the art behind it, then slowly found the genre that I loved. I played a lot of instruments as a kid including the ukulele, trombone, flute, and viola.
I wanted to sing and knew that I could, but my anxiety had always gotten in the way. I was afraid of what people might say, but eventually, I decided that I didn’t care and needed to pursue my passion!
Describe the type of music you want to make. What genre are you aiming for?
I’m aiming to be in the Punk-Rock/Pop genre because that’s what stands out to me the most. I love a soft falsetto voice for some things, but mixing it up with hard guitar and vocals is so exciting. I started listening to this genre when I first decided to lift weights, and that’s also what got me into the guitar. I’m obsessed with any kind of guitar, and music that leaves you feeling inspired yet also empowered!
What do you hope your fans take away when they listen to your music once it’s out?
I want them to learn more about me as a person, and what I really have always wanted to do. I’m explaining things that have happened in my life in a way that everyone can relate to. I want people to listen and understand the emotion I was going through when I wrote it.
I also hope that they understand how much it really means to me, and how far I’m willing to go to be successful. If I can start doing music, so can they! It’s never too late to follow a dream, even if it seems out of reach.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Definitely Maggie Lindemann, Paramore, Conan Gray, and Olivia Rodrigo. I play these artists on repeat almost every day and can recite a good amount of their songs. I would call these my “no skip” artists because I love every song of theirs that ever comes on! Conan’s style is so unique and beautiful, so I take inspiration from the originality. I’ve always been pretty obsessed with Paramore, so it’s been fun mixing all my favorite sounds into my own music!
You have said that you’re learning the guitar. What do you enjoy most about playing it?
For me, it’s become a really fun way to wind down after a hard day and relieve any anxiety. I can play whatever I want to, even freestyling some chords to make a new song. It was something I always dreamed of, so I love playing it every chance I get!
Are there any other instruments you would like to learn?
Definitely the piano, I’ve always wanted to try but I know it’s not the easier either. However, after starting the guitar I’m much less afraid of it! Maybe sometime in the future, I’ll start piano lessons as well. I also want to learn the acoustic guitar, but I feel like it will be much easier since I already have some guitar knowledge!
What advice would you give to other young people who want to pursue a career in social media?
Keep making the content that you love even if the numbers aren’t what you wanted. It’s easy to get discouraged if a video did “badly” but in my eyes, nothing was ever a mistake. Each video you make is building up your page and your niche, so it never hurts to leave it up. Keep persisting day after day and continue to be active on all platforms. That’s what ended up getting me to where I am, I never gave up even when I wanted to! If you keep pushing, the right people will find your content.
What has been your most memorable experience so far from your time as a social media influencer?
This year I was given the opportunity to attend the Billboard Music Awards just because of a TikTok my friend and I made. It was insane, and with only 2 days’ notice, we were on our way to vegas for the showing. I got to see one of my favorite artists in person, Machine Gun Kelly, and so many other people I always had looked up to. I never would have expected a 15-second video to land me and my friend seats to a huge show. At one point I was standing alongside Doja Cat, and I almost forgot how to breathe. I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend, and I hope I get to go back one day!
What do you have coming up that you can tell us about?
I’ve been working on a lot of original music! People keep asking me in the comments if I am, and I want it to be known that it’s coming soon! I’ve also been working on creating more covers of songs that I love to keep building up my vocal talent. Alongside that, I’m coming to be creating some items for sale this year and at the beginning of next which is super exciting!
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
I would definitely want to meet Avril Lavigne, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift. These are women I always listen to and I really admire them! I think even one conversation could change my entire perspective on everything.
